Merton Chamber, we #LoveOURStreet.
On Thursday 9th April staff members from Merton Chamber of Commerce were amongst the 50 local residents, families and business people of Merton that gave their time to transform the 1500 square metres of derelict land on Fieldgate Lane in Mitcham, a stones throw away from our Generator Business Centre. The mayor of Merton Councillor Agatha Akyigyina also came to join in the activities.
The land has been cleared of tonnes of debris, had an urban orchard planted, 7 raised beds built, a herb garden planted, a beautiful rose bed and the whole thing finished off with a 100m flower boarder.
The importance of partnership between local businesses and the community was definitely showcased here and was only made possible by everyone pulling together.
As well as Merton Chamber of Commerce, partners were Barratt Homes, London Borough of Merton, Circle Housing – Merton Priory, Wyvale Garden Centre, Morden mosque, Lidl, Asda and of course local residents.
