Love Wimbledon and the Metropolitan Police are inviting all businesses to attend a FREE training session on Thursday 26th June from 10:30am until 1:30pm at the Antoinette Hotel, 249-263 The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1SD (Please note: there is no available parking on site)
ACT Operational, part of the Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) campaign, is a Tabletop scenario based training program aimed at raising awareness of counter-terrorism issues among staff.
This is particularly relevant for customer-facing businesses as Wimbledon becomes busy leading up to and during the tennis championships.
It focuses on improving security culture, understanding individual roles, and increasing confidence in responding to terrorist incidents.
It was recently announced Martyn’s Law is new UK legislation that is coming into force soon. The Government intends for there to be an implementation period of at least 24 months beforehand. This training session will help to ensure those responsible for premises have sufficient time to understand how to plan and prepare appropriately in counter terrorism before the Law comes in.
The Key Objectives:
• Raise awareness of the ongoing terrorist threat.
• Improve security culture within the organisation.
• Help participants understand their roles and responsibilities in counter-terrorism.
• Increase staff confidence in responding to potential incidents.
The program covers various aspects of counter-terrorism, including:
• Identifying security vulnerabilities.
• Recognising and responding to suspicious behaviour.
• Dealing with suspicious items and bomb threats.
• Understanding the role of ACT in the community and the importance of reporting suspicious activity.
The training will benefit businesses by improving security posture, increased staff awareness, and enhanced confidence in responding to potential terrorist threats.
