A Local Legacy: Celebrating 35 Years of Community, Growth and Legal Excellence in Wimbledon
Merton Chamber of Commerce spoke with Kim Peacock, Managing Director of Peacock & Co Solicitors, about the role community has played in building the business over the past 35 years, as well as looking to the future.
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your business?
Peacock & Co is a firm of solicitors with offices in Wimbledon Village and Epsom. We will celebrate 35 years in Wimbledon next year! We have spent much of this year on a huge refurbishment of our village office which we can’t wait to move back to and welcome our clients. The firm offers a full range of services for both individuals and businesses, including wills and trusts, probate, both residential and commercial property, corporate, employment, family law and dispute resolution.
What do you enjoy most about running your business?
I especially enjoy being based in a thriving business community in Wimbledon where our personal and business clients feel part of a family. The networks are strong and we take a huge interest in getting to know businesses around us via the Chamber and its networking events. We are incredibly blessed with our team too who all not only support the community ethos, but excel at everything they do: in fact, just the other week were awarded both the Property Team of the Year and Business Services Team of the Year by the Surrey Law Society!
What challenges have you faced along the way?
Deciding to lead a redevelopment of our village office alongside my day job and clients has meant that this year has been especially demanding. We are so close to completion now that I know that what may have seemed like an ambitious vision will future-proof our business in Wimbledon for many years to come. The work has allowed us the opportunity to improve the space for the team and streamline our systems including moving business entirely onto cloud based servers.
What is your advice to other SMEs?
Never stop challenging yourself, but don’t forget the client. Being a Private Client solicitor, I never stop meeting new people and helping address their legal needs. We can’t wait to welcome clients, old and new, into our new space. Being part of the community is so important to us – it is one of the reasons that we like to channel our fundraising support to organisations that are in the direct vicinity of our Wimbledon and Epsom offices. I am also very pleased to announce that our supported charity partner for 2026 will be the wonderful Dons Local Action Group.
What do you like about being a member of the Chamber?
I mentioned community earlier, and this really sums up the value of the Chamber too. We were one of the founding members of the Chamber and so have grown-up together. And as a lively business community in Merton and it is exciting to see how we can learn, support and inspire each other. As a firm, we enjoy attending all of the events that are offered by the Chamber and it never surprises me how new connections that are made, and ‘old’ ones thrive.
