BEHIND THE LENS: REBECCA CRESTA ON HER JOURNEY TO PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS
Merton Chamber of Commerce had a chance to interview Rebecca Cresta, Official Photographer of Merton Chamber.
Rebecca shared her passion for creative arts and how her hobby transformed into a business.

Who is behind Rebecca Cresta Photography?
I’m Rebecca Cresta of Rebecca Cresta Photography. I’ve always been a keen photographer, thanks to my dad. However, I seriously considered photography as a career after I had children and needed a change from the music industry. It started as a side hustle, but my business has transformed over the last five years.
What do you enjoy most about running your business?
I really enjoy feeling like I am part of a team with my clients. It was more sporadic when I first started, but now, over 90% of my clients are regulars! It’s thrilling to be part of something bigger and to work with such phenomenal people. There’s something incredibly rewarding when someone says, ‘This is an amazing photo; it captured the joy of the event.”
Running a business isn’t easy, what challenges do you face?
One of the biggest challenges is the fluctuating workload and income throughout the year. For example, May to July is insanely busy for me, but things can get quiet. Another challenge is maintaining a healthy work-life balance, especially as a single parent. But I’ve started finding ways to overcome that, like investing time in my projects.
What is your advice to other SMEs?
Networking is key, and never stop learning. I’m always attending workshops and exhibitions to improve my skills. And don’t be afraid of new challenges; that’s how you grow.
What do you like about being a member of The Chamber?
The connections and networking opportunities through the Merton Chamber of Commerce have been invaluable. Being the official Chamber photographer is a real privilege. The Chamber has so much faith in me, and it’s helped my business grow. The people I’ve met through the Chamber are fantastic, and it’s been a big part of what I do.
